Oceanography

Piri Reis utilizes state-of-the-art real-time monitoring devices such as the Sea-Bird Electronics, Valeport Midas 3000 CTD profilers so collect conductivity, temperature and  depth data as well as other multi-probe systems (if required).

 

Piri Reis also operates a wide range of water sampling and monitoring equipment. We can collects samples with Niskin Bottles, water pumps and other specialty samplers.

 

Present day technologies have improved the accuracy of current studies. Piri Reis deploys sophisticated equipment such as Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) or electromagnetic current (EM) meters to monitor current speed and directions. ADCPs can be used to collect current speed and direction throughout the water column, while EM meters work only at one specific depth. Current data can be collected at any water column depth and is used to collect data offshore, near-shore, rivers and lakes. Either type can be deployed for long term observations or "dipped" for a real-time look. ADCPs can also collect surface to bottom data when towed or attached to a vessel or mounted on the bottom looking up.

 

The oceanographic data processing system has been designed to be portable and can be loaded both onto laptop PCs for field use, as well as larger PC's for final data preparation in the office.

The final plots can be provided as files suitable for printing, or in a standard exchange format such as .DXF.
